An Inconvenient Truth

A Global Warning
Al Gore (Movie/DVD/Book)

<Rating: 5 stars>
The movie showed in Australia in Sept 2006, and along with the 'Stern' Report it sparked the Australian wave of Global Warming debate and was a factor in the Australian Federal Government losing the November 2007 election.

This must be the simplest and clearest explanation of the Global Warming crisis. Viewing this movie should convince everyone of the crisis and the solutions. If you have not see this movie you owe it to yourself and the planet to see it.

The value of this book and/or movie is how it simply, visually and graphically presents the facts and issues around global warming. Here are some examples:
  • Demonstrating the current levels of atmospheric CO2 levels that are "off the chart"; compared to the levels over the last 600,000 years;
  • Pictures side by side of mountains and glaciers showing the dramatic loss of
    snow and ice over the last 30 years;
  • From 1860 to 2005, 20 of the 21 hottest years have occurred in the last 25 years;
  • Images showing how Hurricane Katrina was intensified when it passed over 'the unusually warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico';
  • The level of ice shrinkage in Greenland and at both poles;
  • 'Drunken Trees' falling over from the loss of the permafrost in Alaska and Siberia;
  • Coastal Maps being re-drawn due to sea level rises;
  • Lower water levels in the Colorado River and the loss of the Aral Sea;
  • Peer-reviewed articles dealing with climate change published in scientific journals (1995-2005): 928; Percentage of articles in doubt as to the cause of global warming: 0%;
  • How renewable energy technology is available now to solve this problem;
  • How the 'will' to solve the problem has been lacking;
Perhaps one of the best quotes from the movie is this one from Upton Sinclair:
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something
when his salary depends on not understanding it."

The book, the movie and the DVD are all carbon neutral products.
